Four Arameans elected in the Iraqi National Council

Iraq (Baghdad)- The first general meeting of the Iraqi National Council has resulted in the elections of four Arameans of different denominations. The following persons were elected:

 

  1. The East-Aramean of the East-Syrian ,, Nestorian” Church, Mr. Yonadam Khanna (secretary general of the “Assyrian” Democratic movement).
  2. The East-Aramean of the Chaldean Church, Mr. Hikmat Hakim
  3. The West-Aramean of the Syrian Orthodox Church; Ms. Ibtisam Giwargis Behnam
  4. The East-Aramean of the Chaldean Church Mr. Wijdan Michal

 

Representatives of other minorities were chosen as well:

 

Yezidis: 1 Person

Mandeans: 1 Person

Kurds: 20 persons

Turkmons : 8 persons
